Default Exhaust vibration at speed

Hi Guy's

Looking for some help please, I have just installed a new midpipe section on my 2013 sedan wrx, went on with no problem and using all the stock hangers, but when I am driving on the freeway at 100km/h I get a vibration through the car, I can feel it through the seat of the car, through the chasis and pedals. It only started after the pipe install so I suspect it's the new pipe. I don't get the vibration at low speeds and I don't notice it when accelerating up to speed, it's only when I am cruising.

Any ideas?

Thank you

When I had a vibrating exhaust, problem was fixed by doing it up tight.
It was not just feeling, it could be heard rattling.

Your problem- you say it can be felt at 100 on the freeway.
But can you hear it?
Anyway, get the installer to tighten it up.
Is there any leeway for the pipes to hit anything if they are vibrating?

Vibration at 100 on the freeway- the usual cause would be tyres needing balancing.
esp. when you have a vibrating steering wheel.

Thanks guys, I have been doing other research too and some people have mentioned it could be because it's too tight and there is no movement in the exhaust, like spring bolts or a flexible joint and that is causing the vibration. I will get it back up on the hoist and recheck it.

The mid pipe you removed has no flexi join in it either. Make sure the new pipe is not touching anything. Looks pretty close to the front subframe brace in your picture, also check the diff cradle area. After my engine was rebuilt my exhaust pipe was touching the cradle and making an odd tinny noise at certain rpm's.

Cheers Nick, I will have a look at that too

I think you solved it Nick, the heat shield is touching the exhaust pipe

I will have to remove the shield

If you can just bend the shield up a smidge.
