Default Rounded/tight ass nuts

Any ideas on how to get a couple of REALLY tight nuts off my suspension towers in order to put a strut brace on my 99? They were slightly rounded from where the previous owner obviously tried to get them off, and I've made them worse... I've sprayed them with WD40 heaps, and even used Upper engine cleaner last night as I saw someone say that was also good. I have broken a spanner in half trying to budge them to no avail...

Any ideas??

cheers

Brett

if they are rounded, try a pipe wrench... always works for me. The pipe wrench grips harder the more force you put on it.

Vice Grips
If you can heat the nut then cool the bolt, that can help. Heat expands, cool contracts, makes it easier to get off. Be careful though...... normally you'd use oxy, but i wouldn'y try that so near sheet steel.

Try getting the vice grips tight as buggery on the nut, then get one of those flash blow tourch lighters and heat the nut, then really quickly spray something cool on the bolt in the middle ( anything that evaporates quickly, isn't too flamable and has a thin strawy thingy ). then hit the vice grips with a hammer in an anit clock wise direction.....

Cheers, do you know if they are made small enough to be used on the suspension nuts as I have a shifter that can't fit in the gap between the nut and the bodywork.. Also what would one cost, ballpark??

Cheers

Vice grips come from the weeny tiny ones to very, very large.

Good quality cost you a fortune, Cheap ones aren't worth shit.

If you are keen on doinfg lot of stuff like this, then you could hit any of the tool shops and check em' out. Look for something middle of the road, maybe $10-$20?? each, maybe?

And hey, if the nut isn't tooo ratshit, try the pipe wrench, you can get them cheaper and still heat it up and stuff
