Reverse no more in my 98 gc8
Hey all,
I'm new to the forum so please don't tell me off if this is covered somewhere else on here lol ....
Ok so me being a complete d**khead decided to dump reverse at about 4500rpm.... Yeah yeah I know, I know.. I shouldn't have done it and blah blah but I was arguing with the Mrs and now I have realised that R is not for racing lol... Anyways... Now I have no reverse (obvious reasons)... It feels like is only half goes into reverse properly and when I let the clutch out the gear stick bounces back to neutral when the car goes under load in reverse and it now has developed a "grinding/clunking" noise when I let the clutch out in reverse. It feels like it goes into reverse but obviously not 100% in reverse if that makes sense... Just wondering do I just source another gearbox or split this one? How hard are these gearboxes to work on? I'm confident giving anything else a whirl on a car but gearboxes have always been a daunting subject for me lol... If anyone can shine me any light on this subject it would be great, cheers
