Better still... sell the RX and buy a WRX... Then at least you get the car built to take the motor... plus, by the time everything is fitted to the RX it will probably work out not much more in cost...

My last Subaru was a 1998 Liberty RX, 2.5L, cat back exhaust, cold air intake, power chip tuned for 98RON petrol. When i 'compared' it against a friends 01 Impreza RS, my car would leave his for dead, so its fair to say my heavier car had a decent increase in power

That said, it still pulled a 15.72 down the 1/4 mile. Mat has pulled 13.5 in a 1997 wrx with a cat back exhaust down the 1/4. you can make improvments, but you are pretty much wasting your money if you do. save the cash you would waste on a WRX half cut. Have a squiz at www.japanesewholesale.com.au for rough prices

"you cant polish a turd" hahaha point taken.

Not prepared to change the engine at this point but i will see what my tax return brings...
As you all said...if i wanted to make it as quick as a wrx i should jus buy a wrx...Modding to that extent would not be cost effective.

Not really lookin to make it that quick tho haha...jus had it 3 or 4 weeks and now im used to the 4wd grip i want a bit more power haha.
What effect did the intake have Simon?

put money into suspension, my rx rolls like a bitch, if setup right, it can give some wrxs a go around mc tracks, unless the track has many straights...

buy a lighter bonnet. my weighs truck loads, get lighter wheels, get better pads or brakes, errmmm get neons...

*runs off*

but seriously, they're good cars, last you a while, haven't had many problems with mine, good on fuel, and the insurance isn't too bad. learn to drive these things at its limit out on mc, then when you think you're decent enough, sell it and get a wrx.

You should see Simon's suspension work... He hasnt gone all the way with coilovers, but with all the suspension mods he has done, this thing could easily out manuveur most normal WRXs on the twisties. Corners like its on rails...even though its still an NA. Plus the brakes are beefed up too with good slotted rotors and pads.
