::::BRINGING UP OLD THREAD::::

two weekends ago my cars exhaust started farting and then shut of...I had not been thrashing it either was in a suburban area at the time.

The car would not start from then on and got it towed to my mechanic...It seems that one of the spark plugs has melted....after reading this thread, caused by fuel mixture leaning out....( i knew 500 k's per tank was too much )

Now the engine in gonna be completely checked out over the next couple of days....

is it likey that some "major" (engine fukt type major) damage could of resulted from this ???

Thanks Guys

John

Leaning any engine out being a 2stroke dirt cart engine to a Ej20 could or could not of damaged it. Its really hard to tell. Sounds like you will have a compression test and will be told that either cylinder 1,2,3 or 4 have melted to the block

No start could be many things, but when you know its been leaning out.....usually its bad.

Best of luck buddy, hopfully it comes back all good and its just a....err... spark plug/starter motor or sumthing. Not a whole engine

The only way to really tell is to get a wideband O2 sensor reading
