Jamie, since 2001 Kaaz do a model thats is a straight fit for the 99 think its the DBF2050

The Kaaz 1.5 is a very solid bit of gear, having 7 plates to share the load across makes them good for very high power. Other makes like Cusco/STi have less plates making them quieter, not necessarily stronger. Perfectly compatible with your vanilla model WRX R160 rear housing and much lighter than fitting an R180 There is no 2 way info at the link you supplied they only refer to 1.5 way? Stay with the 1.5 for road /track.

Yes its noisy, you learn to love it it has really made my car a lot more fun to drive. Being able to power oversteer is a whole different world. Its not to slow either...For Autokhanas, beating every WRX and most STi's on this forum at one time or another, its been well proven.

i have, for the price you can get a kaaz (hovering around 950 for the common ones) its fairly worth it.

Ive been in maddogs car and you can def hear the kaaz engaging and disengaging... quite interesting.

You could always get a Spec C R180 rear with the clutchpacks in it for total overkill strength wise.

STi now make a R160 Mechanical Rear LSD that should be wayyyy quieter than the comparable KAZZ/Cusco diffs.
This looks like a SureTrac replacement, a bit confusing though....

i wouldnt recommend a welded for winter time on your daily, but for summer fun they do make things interesting.

Stace, I seem to recall you saying that you cooked (mechanical failure ?) a Suretrac R160 rear with your DCCD. Is that why you went the welded rear ?

Trying not to make the same mistake is a bloody good idea!!!!

ive had several suretrack's and several clutch pack r160's, all of them spun an inside rear under load, the clutchpack rears were certainly great at first but constantly need the plates repacked to tighten them up. not really cost effective...

go a proper mechanical if you can find it, or if you have a spare diff, weld one up for a laugh and see what you think- i dont mind it -too- much, but it makes 3 point turns and car parking in shopping centres a bit agro.

I will always regret letting Simon out of the boot

Isn't that what hand brake turns are for?
