kinda off the topic, but...
from that link: "In the '802, the maps are progressive. I.e. the higher the engine load, the higher the desired boost. This contrasts with the constant desired boost (for a given RPM, regardless of load) for the '800/'801" Does that explain why that in my MY00 sitting in neutral i can rev as hard as i like and the boost gauge comes out of vaccum but stops dead at 0bar. whereas some people can sit at the lights revving up and down cracking the blowoff valve?

ECU controls your boost curve via a solenoid bleeding off air, so the ECU has nothing to do with a BOV venting when revving the engine in neutral
I think you'll notice that any car, no matter what ECU it has, will not go over 0bar when the engine is being revved in neutral. The reason BOVs go off when revving, is probably because they are not adjusted tight enough and they crack open at the slightest bit of vacuum. |

Just a quick question on the ECU topic. I was in touch with a tuner place and he specifically told me that my MY00 ECU could NOT be tuned. That i would have to get an after market ECU (Autronic i think) and tune that.
I SHOULD believe him as they more often then not will tell it straight up but is this true? Thanks, Eric |
