Which Mechanic do u TRUST

Gday guys im fairly new to this forum....just got my 2004 wrx with basic bolt on mods and aftermarket ecu ofcourse...i came over from sydney not too long ago and couldnt let the car go so took it with me.

Basically im looking for a mechanic that can be trusted and not expected the usual shit from most.

SO my question is which mechanic do u take your car to and are you happy with what they charge u?

I usually go to Tim Slako West Racing in Osborne Park, fairly happy with his service etc. But im gunna go have a chat with Abdus at Tenagah Motorsport. I've heard very good things about him!

Race Torque mate never had anything but great service from them. You have to be prepared to wait though as they are always busy.

Although I have never used them All Star Garage is another one.

I dont trust anyone in a position to take money from me. Get second opinions and educate yourself about the mechanics of your car. The more you know the less likely you'll get ripped.

Having said that, I have only heard good things so far about ASG and Tenagah.

What aftermarket ecu have you got fitted?

I think Al from here goes to RevLimit MS in Carlisle? They seem alright. Thinking of getting them to do some stuff on mine. They only do Sooby stuff i'm pretty sure.

Trust me, this is invaluable infomation right there. Learning the even most basic things of your car will help you in the long run 10 fold. I will normally attempt to do sumthing (nothing abnormally hard) before i start ringing people asking for prices. This is why the forums exsist basically! Things like BoV's, Boost gauges, Exhaust, FMIC, replacing turbos etc are all fairly easy (and fustrating at times) things to do.

Who do i trust? Havnt been to a Garage as of yet, so it will be intresting to check them out. Im looking down the line of ASG atm. Head nothing but good about them atm from other people.

Everyone has their own story to tell when it comes to workshops - some are well crafted PR campaigns, some are mates pushing mates, some are genuine horror stories, some are nothing short of BS, some are 100% legit.

There is definately a 'flavour of the month' mentality here in Perth when it comes to pushing a particular workshop/tuner/engine builder - lots of people play 'follow the leader' - i have seen many of the workshops listed be the chart topper one week, Australian Idol fat flop the next, just because some of the influential and well connected members of the forum take their cars there.

This thread will probably get locked once it deteriorates into another workshop bashing thread, so i suggest you use the 'advanced search' button to filter your way thru the copious workshop threads to give you a "internet picture" of the Perth scene.

Happy reading.
