I just got a reply from Impakt on RSLC, looks like I need the earlier pre 99 cable supplied for my V3 STI & MY94 WRX.

Here's the answer I recieved.

"There's one cable that's for all OBD-II vehicles (this includes all Subaru vehicles from 1998 onwards).

Then there's another cable that's for all Subaru vehicles pre-98.

I don't know what year model the V3 STI is, so not sure whether you need the OBD-II cable or not"
