Thecus N4100 ftw... with RAID 0,1,5 or JBOD. Hhmmm... lets say 750GB x 4 ...
http://www.thecus.com/products_over.php?cid=1&pid=2

About $800-900++ ish only for the unit itself.

Cheers
Gerry

Does Nexstar running on 10/100mbps RJ45 or Gigabit? If you transfering a big file (ie. 7-16gb), it will be painful. Thecus has a model that carries 2 hdd and runs on Gigabit, but you also need a gigabit switch then... or crossover cable straight to your pc.

Cheers
Gerry

For future reference I find AusPCMarket to be a good point of reference even if you don't choose to buy from them. Has a nice layout and a fair amount of details on stuff:
Drive Boxes:

External 3.5inch SATA:

And here's a fair few links from Dan's Data, he's always on the lookout for a good value NAS. The article is a bit old now but still some good info to be had. Aparently the hardest thing to find is one that spins down your hard drives when not in use. If your only going to turn the drives on/off as needed then I guess this isnt an issue.
