Default Windows Vista Home Premium

So I brought a new laptop yesterday, and its pre-loaded with Vista.
Initially, I wanted XP Pro, but having taken the time to set it up and get accustomed to it, its not a bad thing.

Now the problem Im posed with is that some software from my XP system is non-transferable.... VERY ANNOYED !!!

Stuff like MS Office, Photoshop and Itunes just to name a few.
Ive downloaded the latest version of XP Itunes and it seems to be working ok, but to lose Photoshop 7 is a major kick in the pants....

Can anyone advise of a possible fix ? Don't bother telling me to go purchase a new copy - I know this....

Does anyone else have any Vista compatible software issues ?

What version of office are you trying to run? I'm halfway through the process of upgrading a client to vista home which she received with a new laptop. Haven't really had too many issues yet. Microsoft update was remarkably slow both search for available updates and then download them.

The real fun will be tomorrow night, when i have to setup her multifunction printer and digital camera, webcam and GPS software!

Best idea is to check out the manufacturers website for the software. They will tell you if it will work or not and if there are any updates on the horizon.

Also if your running XP currently, run this program before you upgrade to vista, could save you some heart ache.

Agreed - as with any new release of Windows, takes a good year or so before it's worth even considering.

Have you tried running it in different compatibility modes?

Right click on the program, properties, compatibility tab.

This has worked for me on a couple of programs. 99% of the programs I use worked out of the box on vista though.

As mentioned above, Vista was preloaded on the system.
Im not totally disappointed in it - just disappointed that it is not totally backwards compatible with other MS software.

Im trying to load OfficeXP....

Microsoft will claim that you must run Office 2007 for Vista compatibility, but Office 2003 with SP2 will run just fine.

personally, i gave up on the futile Microsoft world and use a Mac. will never, ever look back.
