The new wave of increased fines and demerits hardly had the huge crackdown effect that it was supposed to, with our recent death toll of 9 (i think?), and here they are wanting to raise them even more.

With the increasing population, the amount of cars on our roads are increasing, along with the amount of drivers that shouldn't be there. So the recent death toll of 9 imo wasn't too bad considering we have something like 50 000 more cars on the road, or whatever. It's still a life though. But a 0 death toll will be impossible.

Speeding is an issue, but hardly a major one when you look at the lack of skill and experience on WA roads. Don't know about you guys, but getting your driver's license in WA is a walk in the park for even the most incapable drivers. Maybe the government should toy with the idea of stricter licensing procedures, and possibly compulsory driver training to some degree. That might teach some people that the right line is for overtaking and giving way to your right is the apparent norm.

2c in the bank.

If you are really rich and can afford the feed you can go 2 up to
about 8 horse power. Should do the 1/4 in record time.

introduce mandatory/yearly vehicle checks in WA, alot of other states do it. NSW/VIC all cars need RWC before they are sold, meaning they must be roadworthy, also saves alot of heartache for the buyer as it either has to be fixed before or the buyer knows what needs to be fixed. would clean up alot of shit on our roads in regards to un-roadworthy-ness but i doubt it'd stop the carnage. most cases lately seem to have been late model vehicles or they have had nothing to do with vehicle condition.

clearing trees wont do much imo

the other day a nice shiny new HUGE 4wd (patrol) decided to merge with my car, at 110km/hr

i didn't bother to brake, just yet anyway, thought id just let him notice me first.

he saw me half way into my lane and swerved hard nearly rolled the 'car' (like, VERY nearly, two wheels for a bit skidding left and then right)

amusingly terrible handling - whole family in the car.

he got it back under control, and to demonstrate to him how shit his 'car' was i started to weave left and right at the same speed, like a race car warming up his tyres :P
