I remember when I got my license reading in the book it was illegal to be travelling MORE than 10km/h BELOW the speed limit - IE booked for driving too slow.

If this was the case, you could be booked for driving too fast accelerating up to the 100km/h sign (from an 80km/h zone) OR alternatively you could be booked for driving too slow, doing less than 10km/h below the speed limit.

Coppers sitting in these zones picking off "speeders" like that...sorry, but you wonder why traffic cops have the "respect" they do from the motoring community.

You can only get done for "driving to slow" if 1) your on a freeway/highway typr road and 2) it has to be lower than 20km/h under the limit.

I would just argue that you were in fact beyond the sign when they saw you and that they then must have done a U turn past the sign in the 80 zone to catch up, which therefore gave them the wrong impression that you were doing 110 in an 80 just because they were.

The roundabouts are not that hard to understand, you are right on the money. Its been like that for years.

Am I the only one who does a bit of bob and weave into the suburbs if they see a cop even cruise by in the opposite direction.

I just grab the next left or right after I can't see them and gun it and then take an alternate route home.

The car puts it's lights on and turns around. I keep driving and about 2k up the road he flashes me.

I pull over and the 2 officers get out and come to the car. "Do you know why we pulled you over?" i reply that as part of the easter weekend i assume it is for an RBT. The male officer says, "No we pulled you over because you were speeding..." So i ask him how fast etc... He tells me i was doing 104 in an 80 zone. I asked him how far from the speed sign he thought i was when he clocked my speed.... "About 100 meters"

My question is this... can you be done for speeding withing 100m of a speed sign? My understanding was that there was approx a 200 meter buffer around the speed zoning areas. hence multinova cameras and speed traps cannot be deployed within 200 meters of the speed zones.

Anyone know or help would be appreciated...
as far as im concerned you shouldnt have been pinged? Ive always thought that when the sign says for example 80 you can travel what ever speed you like (not exceeding speed limit in original area) and then brake down to speed in new zone??

Yeah if you are in an 80 zone you have to do 80 until you reach the 110 sign, however if you are coming from the 110 zone into the 80 zone you must be doing 80 at the 80 sign!! i think there is a law bout how close cameras can be to signs nut im not sure of the distance

Well if you just avoid them totally then you don't have the persecution problem.

I would rather avoid 10 cops that pass me going the other way to get away from the 1 who was planning on turning around and following me than get a yellow or some other bullshit.

It is safer to just instantly take evasive action and fire off the chaff.

Unfortunately I have to agree with Simon on this one....

If the Police want to enforce a questionable Speed Zone changes and not target drink drivers, those not wearing a seatbelt and chasing fuckers like those that broke into my house again...
I too do the duck in to a side street and avoid the main route home now as well. Works especially well at night and if you know the area......
