On a serious note, you can save a lot of money by not going to a lawyer and instead starting by heading down to your local police station, introduce yourself and request their advice. They will most probably ask you to record any phone calls/ sms that the other party sends etc. They will then tell you to leave it for a week or 2 and see if matters settle down. If the harassment continues, yes, you can then take out a restraining order against the other party... it does not discriminate against gender etc.

A restraining order usually shuts them up! Although i would point out that before you go through this kind of process be sure you have all your belongings and do not need to contact/ visit the other party again. Although there are no ammendments to the current laws to address the serving party contacting the offending party after the order has been served... it is not looked very highly upon if the matter goes back to court!!

Na just tell him to toughen the fuck up, keep well out of the dispute and say nothing about her to anyone or you will be drawn in and she might start on you (has happened to me in the past for trying to be supportive to a mate).

Worse case... sit at home and play counter strike or something of the like. Pick a character that reminds you of her then unload everything you have in your arsenal into it... Surprising just how much better you feel for the computer generated violent stress relieving...

I went out with this chick that works with me here at Telstra, hot bit of tot so I overlooked the part where she seemed a little unhinged. Then soon as I left she kicked into some serious Tom Cruz on me.

So I started seeing this other chick about a month later. She found out about it and from what I can piece together these are the chain of events.

- She looked thru my bill to see who I was SMS and calling.
- She created a pre paid account with all my details (address, DOB, passwords from my normal account)
- Using our work system she set a divert from my normal mobile number to this pre paid service and text my new girl telling her 'Hey it's Chris, this is my new number give me a call on my old one'
- then when she called she told her I was down the shops, she was my GF and for her to stay away from her BF.

Things had only just started with this new girl so after a week of not returning my calls and SMS I got stuck in. Telling her if she wasn't interested she could at least be adult about it and let me know. Then she tells me all this shit... I look the number up and it's all my details, freaky shit.

Chapter two is about how she broke into my house with a bottle of wine... and how my car got mysteriously keyed at work around the same time.

Valid lesson tho, don’t shit where you eat.

Restraining orders are a waste of time to be honest. Been there done that. Often just makes the situation worse, because its like waving a red flag at an already angry Bull.

You more then likely dont have the ability to record phone coversations, its not easy as everyone makes it out to be.

I suggest he changes phone number, and keeps his new one a tight secret time being. Cuts off communication source one. Block other avenues of contact such as msn, email, myspace, whatever.

If he still interacts with her friends, a small break will be needed to avoid that avenue of contact.

It may suck that your the one having to do the running so to speak, but its easier then the alternatives.

And after all of that if she is still a looper, bag of lime, shovel, pines.
