Ive got 2 amps, one under each seat, and ive never had a problem with heat issue. Admittadly theyve never been pumped to anywhere near their maximum, but for what i use them for, no dramas. They're hidden outta the way and all cords are neat and tidy!

Go Alberts, but I had it done in cannington. I don't know if it is the same in WRX's, but in the lib there are air vents going to the feet of the passengers in the back seat which are perfect for cooling amps I reckon. Just make sure the amp is orientated in such a way that people in the back can't kick out/damage the input/output cables. Definately saves a lot of headaches.
Realistically though if it is all insured, it is up to you if you want to put it in the boot or under the seats. People that break into cars will find it harder to steal under the seats, but if they want it bad enough they will still take it.

alberts wont reccomend you to have it under the seat, in fact theyll probably say put it in the boot, i have had afair bit of work doen their, and both times they have installed the amps on the back of the rear seats in the boot, with the dual 12's in the way the amsp werent visable. i had two amps, one for the speakers and one for the subs, both were instaleld on the rear seats in the boot by alberts myaree.
anyway i nregards to getting work done, go alberts or westside car audio. both do top notch jobs! |

My new install. IMO, where ever you put your amps has its positives and negatives. Under the seat they can also run hot, they tend to get kicked by passengers and also, can get alot of dirt inside them thru any vents they have from people's shoes, or dust from the carpet. In the boot, you eliminate the dirt factor (if you keep your car as clean as I do) the only issue you have is over heating. My old amp (kicker 600.4 - which im selling, if anyone is interested) has internal fan's to keep it cool. But what I will do b4 summer, is install some 12v fans behind the install to cool the amp's. Had it in my Mazda years ago, and it worked a treat, after the amps kept getting hot and cutting out. PS: Excuse the polar spec camera phone pic... Will post better pics up over the weekend if anyone wants to see them. |

as for the topic... id prob go for the rear, due to bigger air space and not as likely to get dirt into the amp throught terminals etc.. however in a sedan you can have the advantage of keeping the amps cooler in summer buy having them under the seat (a/c on).. but sound difference not really noticeable to the untrained ear..
