chicken pox (get the missus or kids to draw on you)
either one IMO would yield 1-4 weeks off work

Heh, I just email in when im sick. I don't bother making up excuses because if you go into too much detail, then I feel its easier to tell im bullshitting.

Usually "got the shits" or something similar.

At my old work we used to have this guy that when he was sick, he would get his mrs to call in for him, and you could hear him in the background doing the "cough cough" routine. Or when he phoned up himself, he would be talking normally, "im sick.. blah blah blah <insert cough here> can't come in today, see you tomorrow"

I feel guilty when I used to call in sick at my old job, but I soon stopped feeling that when I started my new job and they told me I can just email in.

Broken leg........go out and buy some plaster and a bandage then hire your crutches. You will get a good 1-2 weeks off. Might be a bit of a pain keeping the bandages on for 4 weeks, but its fool proof!
No one would ever question that you would go to those lengths for a few weeks off.

Al, there is a bout of Gastro going around at the moment. That should buy you a week off work, altho, you will need a doctors note for being sick probably for that long, but thats easy, go in say you have the shits uncontrollably, and you have been vomitting all over the place.. Doctors note will be given to you, and you'll be good for a week off.
