the gentle alternative is to heavily spray around the perimeter of where you park your car with ( as near to pure ) citronella oil.....
its not too expensive, doesnt smell too bad and will keep flies and mosquitos away too. i brought myself a 20ltr keg of it from bunnings and its lasted me nearly 2 years, obviously you have to apply heavily initially and then after heavy rains but come summer, a squirty bottle every week or so will rid you ( humanely ) of your problem. |

Are the cats friendly with you? If they are, make sure you smack them when you see them on the car.
No need to hit them hard, just enough so they get the message that its not good to be on the car. I did this to my cat, and after a few times she stopped sitting on my bonnet |

Plant some lillies around the area.
Cat's dont take well if they eat it and generally stay away from lillies. |
