Probably took about 3 months all up.
I did it all myself without lawyers - sent all the letters in the correct manner & correct time - applied to the small claims tribunal for an order - he ignored it, then applied for some other judgement (can't remember the name) - they sent some Sherriff to re-possess his caravan (it was always parked at the front of his house) - just follow the step by step procedures listed in the Act/Fences brochure - if you follow it 100%, then you're OK.

my neighbour at my rental property has subdivided and built a new townhouse. He ripped down some of the existing fence and put up a new dividing fence , around 7m and now is demanding I pay half ($475).
1.This was all done verbally so no evidence. 2.the previous existing fence was perfectly fine but part of it was half height as it was at the front of the properties. 3.He did a cashie job so there is no invoice I do not have photos of the previous fence as I don't live there and over the phone I tentatively said yes as I thought it was a repair. As it turned out it was not a repair job. pretty sure I can tell him to fark off?

It's a civil matter. Unless you're at fault which would set grounds for a claim then you have no obligation.

yeah if the fence was perfectly fine then there was no need to replace it - except because of his new subdivision - therefore - he pays

You can, but it's only $475. I'd pay it to keep the peace, afterall you did get an upgraded fence. Not worth starting a dispute over such a small amount I reckon.
