Surplus doesn't mean we have to increase taxes, it means there is more tax being generated than beind injected back into the infrastructure. Of course we could be having the wool pulled over our eyes too. Did you know the 'record' low non-employment rate is a 'tiny' bit skewed due to the fact that casuals who work more than 10hrs per week are counted as gainfully employed in the same figures? I'd rather have some action in these boom times than sit back and watch the national bank balance build up because Howard loves the salty taste of Bush's baby gravy. As with the other 2 things, politics are something that shouldn't be discussed at the dinner table or on a public forum, difference of opinon's is just too great

Btw, what makes you think Labor will spend any more than Liberal? When Labor came into WA they STOPPED nearly all the government spending on water and electricity, but then wasted it running the train line down the middle of the freeway instead of on its intended route.

Personally I will be waiting to see who will offer the best leadership and feasible budgets. Gimmicks like K-Rudds youtube stuff may seem 'hip and cool' but means diddly squat in terms of leadership and international presence that we currently have.
