I think WRP is spot on when he was talking abt having 1mil in assets is ok, but the real challange is having that magic no. 1 with 6 zeros behind it in the bank statement.. well why achieve so lil? lets put it this way, if u earn $100,000 per annum after tax, provided u dun eat and buy anything, u need 10 fucking years to accumlate 1mil. lets not even start with inflation...

Well paying back 1mil for a house you will own outright in 15 years+ is a bit different to actually HAVING a million to your name!!

$1m in assets is comparatively easy nowadays if you own a house, but i doubt anyone here has an account with $1m of savings/non-borrowed cash in it !!

Its like, both my parents are millionaires on paper, but theyve never even seen half a million in one place at one time, a million in cash would take sooooo long to accumulate

A house alone these days is easily half a mill and for almost all of us, a huge amount of that is the mortgage, so its not really our own money at all, as said above
