TJ, story basically starts that she buy's something expensive BUT returnable (like dog grooming clippers, dog / cat flea / heartworm treatments (worth like $50-$100)).

Then she returns that product and keeps the receipt. Then she steals one of the products shes returned (and lets face it, stealing in a big shop is easy since there are heaps of ways to distract workers etc etc) and then she'll go to another store and return it earning herself a nice $50-$300.

When u go shopping theres ALWAYS receipts lying on the ground. How easy is it to pick one of these up, find that product and return it 9 times out of 10 people get away with it.

Same way that stuff at DSE would get stolen. And you cant stop trusting your customers cause they wont come back if they always feel like they are being watched!

Yer, when I was managing at dick smith had the same thing happen to 3 stores in 2 hours. Instead, the customer produced a photocopied reciept, said she had lost the original but photocopied it for warranty purposes. Only reason she got caught was because someone at the Morley store thought she was suspect, took her rego, emailed all the stores. 25 minutes later she rocked up to Midland, and the police got called. She had scammed 600 bucks in 3 hours though, and the cash wasnt on her when caught. Most likely got a slap on the wrist too!

Good to see you caught the fuckers.

EXACTLY what happened in this case. BUT you cant really treat everyone as a shoplifter can u

Nice to catch them for a change, but it'd be better if you could bypass the police / courts.

Reminds me of the time at Innaloo shops recently when a pretty solid bloke bag snatched an elderly lady and k-o'd her. He bolted, but was followed and caught 1km up scarborough beach road (near the hire place) by 5 or 6 tradies. Not a lot 2 cops can (or want to) do in those situations

Ah, the joys of retail.

DSE, owned by Woolworths, worth billions, you look at 600 bucks and go big deal.
Im not sure who owns your pet shops, but if they are a small single owner struggling to get by, 600 bucks could mean losing the business.

Oh, and apparently a car got stolen! Its either being used to rebirth a old bunky GT, or being stashed for some private guy not willing to pay 600k to wank over.
