Default Just heard the scariest thing ever

just watching the news and they had a segment on the future fuel crisis.

they said fuel prices are likely to hit $5-10 in the next 5 years!! can you imagine paying $300 - 600 bucks to fill up?

also had a bloke trying to start fuel saving measures now.. wanted to give everyone a card with a set amount of fuel they could use a week depending on their needs, i.e. people near public transport got less, people with kids got more.

started to make me think im no longer gonna be able to afford to run my car before i'v even finished paying it off.

being able to afford the petrol is a distraction to the bigger picture. imagine how much more it would cost to do your local grocery shopping when the retailers pass on the adjusted prices to the consumer, this goes likewise for everyother good and service.

the green's are up to there usual fear mongering again!

its all one big inconvinient truth!

But yes, it's all smoke and mirrors.

They've also been saying that petrol is going to hit $2 a litre at Christmas for the past 2 years... and they are saying it again this year.

I don't think that it will happen.

i reckon it was just a fear mongering installed with some bogus research.. if their was any real evidence it would lead to another great depression imo.
think of it this way, public transport can barely cope with a sporting event or bdo's imagine how its going to cope with the whole of perth using it especially when upgrades are going to take as long as the mandurah project! going to have alot of lost jobs/ loss productivity if no-one can get to work.

say goodbye to the mining boom which is currently supporting the rest of australia, all the dump trucks/ road tains/ diggers using 100's of litres of diesel a day etc will make the cost of production go through the roof and china india will go elsewhere closer to home, either that or stop growing like crazy.

as mentioned earlier, the price of groceries etc go through the roof, inflation goes through the roof, interest rates follow.. lots of families will be struggling.

obviously filling up will be the least of our worries, but it sure will piss me off paying 50 odd grand on a car that i wont be able to afford/ sell !
