You can connect old Gamecube controllers to the Wii. They also sell a wired remote for the Wii, just like a normal controller.

btw, i have a Wii for sale, and also a $70 voucher to Game Traders if anyone is interested...

p.s. Smash Bros can be downloaded already (if you had a Wii like mine )

just read the review of mario kart and looks great! , im glad they have not changed it to much and it still leaves alot up to skill but you can still have fun if you are playing it for the first time , also the choice of wii controller with steering wheel, wii controller with nunchuck , GC controller and new classic controller (5 diferent options all up)

all up looks like a good follow u pto the other mario kart games , let the fun begin!

i have also ordered the high deff cable for it so it will look good on the new hi-def 50inch plasma
