no fragile labels. The checkout chick knew it was a laptop, would think its her responsibility.

Who puts laptops/cameragear/wives on as checked luggage? Almost like leaving the keys in ur car and wondering why it got stolen.

I'd say Sky west would only be liable for upto $400 for personal items. Check their website for terms and conditions.

Then try and get it done on warranty, if you extended it or it was 2+ years anyway as most are only 1 year.

If it gets done on warranty and Skywest pays out $400 you will be paid for you inconvenience.

No way in the world will that be covered by warranty.

Try chasing up the insurance side of things.

Sorry to hear mate.

i would check up on the insurance your work has taken out for you. alot of policies do cover your luggage and personal belongings for accidental damage. Obviously different insurers have different limits but usually the policies cover you for around the $2500 mark for your items.

Try and claim it from SkyWest, and then replace it yourself with the claim money.

Heaps of laptops share LCD panels, so remove the panel and check the part number on the back...then eBay it. You can pick new LCD panels up for a few hundred bucks, but the 17" may be a bit more I reckon.

Hey dude - dont bother. Been through this before.

It your responsibility to pack you laguage well and up to you what you put in it. They dont just put you bag in one pile. they stack it up with heaps of other and just imagine the weight on your lappy (especially if your bag was on the bottom).

You should have taken it on as hand laguage.

Im Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but trust me - they wont even look at it.

if you told the girl at the counter when u were checking your bags in that there was a laptop there, then she should have marked it as Fragile. I would try and hit the airline up firstly, see what they say, if they say no, then insurance it is...
