Dell RW985 = Grainy
Dell XK309 = Not Grainy
Dell XX726 = Not grainy

Just ask for the XK309 or XX726 when you order, and it'll be fine.. I got the RW985 and its not actually that bad, but Dell are replacing it under warranty shortly with an XK309.

Dell XPS FTW, though for a home notebook the Inspiron is very good.

For $1399 you get very good specs.
Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz, 2GB RAM, 15" screen, 160GB HDD, DVD-RW, Wireless, and Geforce graphics which will suffice for some games.

From Dell, I paid $2023 with my Curtin Uni discount and a $200 off online voucher, for my M1530. Also got a lot of it back when I salary packaged it through work

Got:

Core 2 Duo 2.5ghz (new Penryn chip), 6mb cache
4gb RAM
15.4" 1680x1200 display
320gb hdd
DVD+/-RW
Wireless
256mb Nvidia 8600GT graphics
Creative Soundblaster Audigy sound.
TV tuner
Vista Ultimate.

Vista is f*cking great if you run it on a powerful PC, most of the problems come when people try and run it with 512mb of ram.

yea plus photo/video editing and as a top notch portable multimedia base. You are correct for your everyday computing needs an Inspiron or equivelant will do nicely. Me, I hate when applications and loading times take longer than a second
