So I'm looking at buying a Laptop...
Okay so I’ve decided I’d like a cheapish (sub $1500) laptop for home use. All I’m really interested in is MS Office, web browsing, storing music and watching or burning the odd DVD. I’m not really into gaming so a super computer isn’t necessary.
I was hoping some of you tech savvy guys might be able to point me in the right direction so I can get the best value for my money. I am also not opposed to the idea of buying a 2nd hand or refurbished machine. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers! |

Toshiba are good - administrator mate runs 30 - 40 laptops and swears by them over the other brands so I bought one and havent had any probs.

IBM Thinkpads are pretty solid. Most big companies use them. I've had 4 over the years.

xps, ive got 1330 and v happy with it. Specs wise youll get more than toshiba, ibm etc for a better price. 1550's have had a problem with grainy lcd's so you have to ask for a specific lcd make (think theres 2 different, samsung and the other I forget), check whirlpool forums plenty of writeups on it.
