Default Computer Help - Data Recovery

Hey, need some help if anyone can..

I need to do some data recovery on a 200 gig hdd that has had a fall from the hieght of the pc case.. I rang all the local stores down there all got the same answer we don't do it..

So i did some searching on the net and found a place in Melbourne, that for between 1000-2500 bucks they'll get the data.. anyone else know any other places? I have just got back from holidays from Indonesia and had uploaded all my photos to it, and all my other photos and music is all on it...

Thanks muchly
Pete

Won't recognise it, and when it's plugged in either to the external hdd shell or into the pc makes a buzzing/ticking sound, which i think the heads have jumped.

I went through this exercise a while back - Unfortunately it's going to cost a fair amount. One place in Bentley quoted $800 to recover a 2gb compact flash card. They will usually look at it for about $60 and see what can be done first, before proceeding with the recovery process.

Do a search in the yellow pages, there are a few companies in Perth who do it.

an extra external 1tb hdd to do BACKUPS is 300 bucks

keep it off site for those fires. backup monthly have a second machine with another 1tb so you don't lose it all in a fire and a car crash and your already talking less $200 than one recovery which may or may not be possible.

obviously not going to help you now, but next time.

There are programs you can get to boot a custom os and run a deep scan that bypasses a lot of system, but if you've crashed the head the chances are not even that will work.
