Exclamation Any Broadband Gurus?

Hey guys need some help big time. please read.

Heres the story.

Ive been with the Fat free fone company (a sub-company of AAPT) for over a year and recently decided to head to AMCOM for broadband 2+.

I have rang Fat free and asked them to disconnect service. They told me they did and then i set up broadband with amcom.

I got calls from amcom saying that there is a delay in service as my previous isp (fat free) still hasnt disconnected.

I keep ringing fat free and they keep telling me that my service has been disconnected. a BIG head ache.

Amcom tell me there are still codes on my broadband line and they still cant connect. I have also been confirmed by telstra, and they also have told me that there are still codes on my line and no order to get them removed.

After a week long battle with calls to fat free, they have come to the conclusion that they did disconnected my service and that they do not own my codes anymore.

I have called AAPT with no luck.
Amcom cant do anything
Telstra cant do anything
Fat free wont do anything.

I don't know what to do and i cant be without broadband as i have university exams etc and cant afford being offline.

Thanks guys, any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Cheers.

Telecommunications Ombudsman.

Or save yourself the hassle and go wireless (at least for now) with 3 or one of the other providers.

You can do a few things.

First thing i would do would be to call Fat Free (seriously.. how could you go with a company with that name!!) and speak with someone higher up the food chain. The first level/sales people have no technical knowledge above turn it off and on again.

If you still have no luck, i would contact Telstra. The line at the end of the day is owned by them as it's they're infrastructure. All Fat Free (I mean seriously... come one!) will be doing is contacting Telstra and having them remove the codes. If you manage to speak with someone higher up the chain they should be able to assist you. Try spinning the line that you wanted to sign up with Bigpond Internet but can't because they won't remove the codes on the line.

Final answer would be to go to the ombudsman and get them involved.

Contact the Telecommunications Ombudsman. I had a simular issue when I disconnected from Dodo. Amazing how quickly they get moving once you get in contact with the Ombudsman.

Get on to Fat and tell 'em you are going to the Ombudsmen unless they fix the problem regardless of who's fault it is. Speak to their head tech guru and do not take no for an answer. Its time for threats.

Yes you could also spin the line that you want to connect up with Telstra Big Pond. Let them test the line they own and clear the codes.

Then go with Amcom. Good choice there that one

Never heard of your ISP. But, did they not have a fast churn option to your new ISP?
Although, if your changing from ADSL1 to ADSL2+ then that wont work i don't think.

Id also reccomend whirlpool, but if uve got no replies... that is unusual.

As said above, if you try connecting with tel$tra, but then don't actually do it, they'll sort out your lines, and then your free to go with an ISP of your choice. Id reccomend internode AMCOM is good too though.
