Blackberry info
Hi everyone,
For all you IT nerds out there: I've just gotten myself a Blackberry (got it for f*ckin cheap, outright, unlocked too, so not on a plan). Work has told me that to get push email on the Blackberry from our Microsoft Exchange server, they need to install Blackberry Exchange Software which costs sh*tloads ($1000 per license apparently), and because of the price I need to get approval from the general manager (which probably won't happen). When I had my PDA, I used to be able to get push email from our Exchange server just by inputting the server details into Mobile Outlook installed on the PDA. My question is, is this available to be done on my Blackberry, or do I need to use the proper Blackberry licensed software to be able to do this? I mainly want to sync my tasks, calendar and emails with Outlook straight from our Exchange server. Cheers Last edited by BALISTC; 26-05-2008 at 08:37 AM. |

I had a blackberry and now a palm trio and for both all I did was put in the correct server address and user name/password and then let it sync.
Unsure if work had paid any extra but our IT dudes have never said anything about it when they have had issues and had to reset them.

Hey mate I installed the free 1 license blackberry enterprise server at work here for the CEO. It works fine for one user and if it is just you that is great. Easy enough to install and works a treat.
If you need more info just ask. Cheers Stefan

better off with windows mobile, true replication with exchange- not "outlook" for both incomming and outgoing items.
providing your administrator has it enabled on the exhange server (free).

Yeah it is enabled, because my Windows Mobile 5.0 device was sync'ed perfectly with our Exchange server.
I got this Blackberry 8707 for $90 brand new unlocked so I thought it might be worth sorting it out...I'll just enter my server details in and we'll see how it goes, but if I get stuck then I guess I'll have to find another solution |
