Default questions for computer geeks

1. Am I correct in saying that the Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160 and AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ ( 2.2Ghz / 65W ) Socket AM2 are both 64 bit?

2. Would they also run in 32 bit?

3. I have the Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ and legit XP Pro 32 bit. Would there be any issues running 32 bit software?

thanks in advance

Today's CPU's have 64bit Instruction Set in them can can utilise 64bit written software.

The CPU will only use the common 32bit instruction set if running 32bit software.

So All 64bit CPU's are 32bit CPU's as well.

21st Century Business Equipment by any chance?

Sounds very similar to what they said to me years ago.

I believed it was 3.2GB max for 32bit XP and 3.4GB for 32 bit Vista... can someone confirm/clarify this ?

It all depends on your motherboard and how many other components you have in there as well. eg.. How many Graphics Card, TV Tuner cards, onboad features so on & so on.

Each component gets allocated System Memory therefore reducing the total RAM down from 4GB installed to 3GB - 3.8GB useable. The more components you have the less addressable RAM your system can access
