My mate just bought an iPhone like 2weeks ago and now its farked up!

He was on software 3.0 and just today, when he plugged his iPhone into iTunes, it popped up saying 'update software 3.1'. So he thought he might as well get update. So after updating, everything downloaded and iPhone began to sync, after all that shit..

his iphone now says 'the sim card inserted in this phone does not appear to be supported. only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate this iphone. please insert the sim card that came with the iphone or visit support to get a replacement sim'

also on the iphone screen is a picture of the usb plug + itunes symbol. and he can only now make emergency calls.

anyone here have the same problem? how did you fix this shit?

Maybe plug it into itunes, hit the restore button whilst holding I think it is either shift or alt or command or option depending on if you are on a mac or a pc and it will allow you to select the source file, use the old 3.0 file if it is still on the pc.

i had the exact same problem too, leave it on let the battery run out
plug it into itunes charge the whole thing
and then mine worked again!

same problem, update Itunes and reboot your PC then restore.

1. Find Glass

im guessing you tested these steps thoroughly before documenting them?

This happened to me yesterday. I restored my phone on a differant PC and then syched it on the one I orginally used for backups and itunes. Seemed to work for me. Crapped myself when it first happened tho. Hope you get it sorted.
