100km/hr on the freeways, with 80km/hr sections.

50km/hr in built up areas, and bigger streets are 60km/hr.

police are around the place.

theres no fixed speed cameras, only portables and handhelds.

All roads are well sign posted, were not that backwards

built up areas vary from 50-60kmh

Equivalent dual-carriage ways are 70-90kmh

Freeways/State Highways 100-110kmh

As for fines as long as you go no more than 10kmh over your only looking at a $75 fine.

Dont drive like an arse and the cops general leave you alone, cameras are random and mobile, not fixed like back in the UK, only red light cameras are fixed here.

A list of all mobile locations where speed cameras are placed are published a week in advance on the state police website (http://www.police.wa.gov.au/ABOUTUS/...0/Default.aspx)

Freeways

100kph in the metro area which is around 62 mph. 80kph where it cuts through the city centre.

Highways

Generally 90kph in the metro area which is 56mph
Up to 110kph outside metro area which is 68mph

Yes, there are speed cameras, but mainly in built up areas (where the money is) not very many outside metro and large towns like Mandurah etc (where the death is ironically).

The cops aren't all out to get you as long as you don't drive like a retard.

i will be driving sensibly

slightly slower than the uk that will feel wierd as on the motorways here i do between 70 and 80 mph....

so school times the speed changes for 50kmh to 40kmh in school zones??

does this mean ie were i can see a school to the left or to the right of me??

depends where you do drive @ 50kph because you may not get done for speeding but you might encounter "Road Rage" for driving too slow or even get pulled over by the police for driving too slow as some young chick found out the other week.... ( was on one of the news programs but can't remember which one!! )
