What's so good about the XPS systems in comparison to the Inspiron systems?

My wife will be using it to check her emails, surf the net, probably play a bit of music on it....she's also an accountant so she will be doing some private work on it using some of the more popular packages. The laptop will replace her having to use the desktop in the study....she'll be able to do everything in the living area while keeping an eye on the kids.

No doubt I'll find other uses for it too.

I have an XPS M1530 (same as M1330 with bigger screen).

In general, they have better video cards and a more "cutting edge" construction i.e. use of aluminium and magnesium. More of a gaming and multi laptop than the Inspiron.

Enjoy the weight...

1720
Weight: Starting at 3.45kg
XPS 1330
Weight: Starting at 1.79 kg

1720 is probably a good choice for you as you want a desktop replacement. Good price, good specs, large screen. I went for 1330 as I need a portable...and the Sony's at $3500+ were over priced.

Cheers

Yeah weight was not really a consideration for us as it'll pretty much be stationed in the kitchen area 90% of the time.....all up for $1600 inc GST, can't complain

Dells are like aids, except not everyone will know you have aids when they walk in and see it sitting on your table.

That both are utterly shit to have.

As long as it doesnt break you should enjoy a competent laptop. Best wishes in advance if you dare need warranty.
