Has anyone who isn't a courier/taxi driver ever found they were actually needed?? It's not hard to plan your route if you look in advance in the UBD. Plus they only cost $20 and I don't know of anyone having a window smashed to get one!!!

Technology is there, why not use it!
Not very safe checking a map on your lap while driving.

I've only ever used a Tom Tom, very easy to use!

i dont really have the time too look in the UBD, call it lack of time or lack of want to actually do it, i drive heaps and yes i do find i really need and prefer a mapping device, its my own fault for leaving it up when i left my car anyway,

I have a Mio Digiwalker C520 and it shits on all the other GPS's I've ever used, including Blaupunkt, Navman and Tom Tom.

The new model Mio is coming out soon, so if you choose that one, you can wait for that or you can find the outgoing Digiwalker C520 with free map upgrades via redemption, for around $300 or less now.

Mio = Crap sorry but you get what you pay for, so many returns from when i used to work at Harvey Norman, you may have a good one but other than that most of em crapped themselves !

i have worked with both navman and tom tom and when it comes down to being a reliable unit the tomtom shits on navman i have soo many navmans back with software issues. yeah it is easy to do a software update but if u in a hurry it can be annoying as hell
so a tom tom ftw.

As Phil said wait for the new tom tom GO930 or if u dont want to spend the money the GO710 is also a good unit these 2 are your high end models.

At the end of the day its up to u wat sort of goodies you want in a nav eg: bluetooth, camera(gay),text to speach(tell street names)

-Brett =)
