Buying new car from a dealer - how much $$ can i bargain off the price?
yes a weird question but im not an expert on barganing. if i'm buying a $25k-$30k how much should i be able to bargain off its original price as a rule of thumb?
i know it depends on the dealership/car/weather/time of the month(if its a sales lady) at least give us examples of cars you've bought (rrp and the final price). greatly appriciated

10% is not out of the question.
Best bet is to walk in with ability to pay for it on the spot or similar pre-approval. I bought a VL back in the day (shit that was over a decade ago ) that had a sticker price of $8,900. Walked in with 60x $100 notes and it was mine. 5 speed manual too

forget paying a specific price if you are paying with any sort of finance, it doesnt matter after the interest has been added on.
if you are paying kesh, try scoop a bit off the top, but go for added extras like making them pay for insurance, rego, stamp duty etc.

Agreed with the man above they will do anything if they are going to lose the sale just be firm and eventually they will give in.

Why not pay the RRP? Do you haggle 10% off margarine at woolworths?
Ok now I have had my take pity on sales people. It all depends on the car. Most cars will have a couple of grand in them, the best thing to do is get them to halve the dealer delivery, that charge is total BS! |

If you walk in and say you will buy the car today and that you will take their finance. You will almost get the best deal on the spot. Explain that you want the best price and that u want to speak to the manager. He will give you the best deal. End of month is always a good time too. The market is crap atm and i work at a dealership and did in sales. We prefer you using our finance and when we work 58hrs a week. Neither of you want to mess around with the haggling. And to be honest. No1 really wants to deal with cash when buying cars. It is more of a hassell than anything else.

10% EASY!!! and ask them to do a quote on the finance too, they will sell you the car for a cheaper price if they think they will squeeze some money out of you with the interest if you finance it with them

sometimes dealerships have specials on, like when i got my wrx. got $1000 of free accessories and extra 2 years warranty. and i managed to score $3500 discount, plus an extra $500 on top of my trade-in then wat we agreed, all so my finance would go through
