Default Missfiring Bunky - Mechanical issue

I have this $500 dollar bunky that gets me to the train station...cut it short:

-been missfiring quite a bit lately ONLY when it's cold, give it 5 mins and it runs fine. New set of plugs would cost me $40 and a new set of leads $60. I dont want to exchange everything at one go and since im a tight ass when it comes to my bunky:

-if it missfires while cold, more likely to be plugs or leads??

then again could be head gasket and if its the case...

If it's a head gasket you'll see bubbles in the coolant while it's running.

Does it have a distributor? Could be condensation inside the cap or the the rotor button might be fingered or both......

A few probs with the ignition on early falcons can be traced back to the black box module for the ignition on the dizzy, first try cleaning under it and reapply silicon paste for good contact. These have been the demise for many an EA/EB.

Is that the thing about the size and shape of a cigarette lighter? One went on my old mans EA, cost $250 to replace
