Default Cancer

Hi people
I just got news that my dad got lung cancer and his stage is 3B out of 4. I just want to know if anyone of you or your family members have gone through Chemotheraphy and what are the side effects on a person? I try to google it and got some idea but i want to know some personal feedback on the treatment

Thanks

Damn, that's no good at all I'm guessing 3B out of 4 is fairly advanced??

I think the general consensus is that Chemo sucks balls but if there is a chance it will save his life then it may be worth all the throwing up and shagged immune system. My sympathies are with you and your family at this time.

I have had 2 tumours removed from my right Fibula and bone grafted with a piece from my Tibula (or is it the other way around?). Luckily for me they were benign, therefore did not require Chemotherapy. Couldn't have imagined being 10 years old and losing half my right leg.

I'm very sorry to hear of your Dad's illness.

A close colleague was diagnosed with breast cancer in about 2004.

Essentially the main side effects (and I am no expert, but am just relaying second hand info) are that it will make you feel very weak and possiby nauseous, with the loss of hair as the treatment progresses. The hair loss is by no means permanent. I believe that the prognosis for treatment is very good these days. I have had 3 colleagues in the last ten years undergo treatments with excellent results.

I wish your father a full and speedy recovery.

sorry to hear buddy. But think positive mate and keep your dad positive, which i'm sure you'll do. Chemo can be a extremely draining experience, mentally emotionally and physically for all involved. Keep that fighting attitude in your dad and all will turn out perfect. In the end mate do whatever you can do even if it has side effects (such as chemo). Wish you and your family all best. I look forward to seeing this thread bumped up in a few months, so you can let us know that its all good and the treatment was a great success. All the best champ.
