Buy a new one. Not going to be worth the time or effort.

Surely they arent that exxy, I found a site in the states called ipodjuice.com, they replace for $20 battery + $25 fitting. And gaurantee a longer life than standard.

There must be someone local who can do it. If not, new one it is - but I dont need a bigger capacity, 2GB is enough for my tunes.

Can you still use the buggered battery ones in cars that have ipod inputs ( e.g. the Alpine leads) ? like can you plug into your charger and it'll keep working like normal ?

That's the issue I have, it wont take any charge no matter how long i leave it. Just called Jaycar, they sell the battery for $18.95 and apparently it's pretty easy to change yourself. If I fuck it up, I'll be contacting you re yours Zed!!

I'd guess he's just using it as memory for his car's head unit, in which case, aesthetics and photo / video storage ability aren't an issue.

The new ones look like they've gone back to the Gen 1 style though.
(which were easier to hold and fit in pockets, especially if you are Emo)

PS Jaded, have you bought a Renault Sport Clio?

Yeah they went back - must have got some feedback against the square shaped ones - which I personally preferred but each to their own.

and yus I do...and currently loving the fact that I can get 630kms out of a tank of fuel on highway driving !

If you want one for the head unit and dont care - theyd be flogging the previous model cheaper now I would have thought - to get rid of them to make way for the new ones.. just shop around !

Also try this :

http://store.apple.com/133-622/WebOb...&nclm=FD5142C7

This is where they sell their refurbished stuff. Stuff that's broken down at the factory and they've replaced the insides, that sortsa stuff. They do Mac's as well.
