It did smell of trying too hard.... They have got to drop the guy with the John Farnam hair & Jimmy Barnes voice. They should have chosen Dave Morley from Drive TV & Motor Mag.

I think you will see a re-shuffle of hosts if they dont get it right because SBS would have invested a lot of coin to buy the Aussie licence.

Was it SBS that had the final say in who the hosts were? Or was it the crew over in the UK ?

Curious as to why they choose the ppl they have.

Hi,

Pretty sure at least 8 eps are already filmed, so I can't see any reshuffle for a while!

8mil it has apparently cost SBS.

I thought it was awful.

Cheers,
Nik

I thought it was reasonable. remebering that it is an aussie copycat version of another show means that there are many similarities, otherwise it would be called something else altogether, not top gear. They are selling the concept and along with that go some of the familiar aspects of the uk show.

anyways, look forward to it maturing over the coming weeks.

there were a few ervous moments in episode 1 where the timed celebrity laps and other comparison boards were.......um....... blank.

and I bet maybach would be spewing about the 'what were they thinking' reference. but suppose if you could afford one of those cars, would you really care what anyone thought?

Michael Stahl (Wheels, and possibly also used to be on Drive TV, or one of the old sunday arvo shows anyway) would have been good as 'Clarkson' He's about the same age as JC and has a killer wit (in print at least, and he does present well on TV)

A guy left the following review on the SBS site and after looking at the Youtube vid I fully agree with him, they should get the job over the clowns picked by SBS....

"$200,000 per episode budget for each Australian episode? Where did the money go? The presenters are utter rubbish. The main guy with the blonde heair was slouching in his chair looking as bored as ever during the interview with Collosimo. And a bunch of sotf roaders in the snow was utterly boring. There are a couple of young guys from Sydney that make a show called Mighty Mods that you can find on youtube and on iTunes for free. They make the show on no budget and are funnier, and more watch-able than this crap."
