I think they will hold off to see if the stimulus package has any effect.

I think there's a swing towards maintaining the cash rate @ 3.25 still, I don't envisage a drop further, and if they did, 25 base points at best. Banks are still finding it hard to finance big business so you never know

I would say Oz dollar is going to stay in the US 78.0c - 83.0c band until the end of the year if the Reserve Cash Rate stays stable.

It also depends on Commodity prices as well of course. Which is tied up with economic growth in China. Commodity prices up, dollar goes up as overseas Oz dollar buyers see the Oz economy as low risk.

Once a strong world recovery is under way, expect the Oz dollar to reach parity and probably pass the US dollar.

Looks like all those predicting US dollar weakness due to them printing money like there is no tomorrow is finally starting to happen, hold off on your US purchases.

Stolen from a well read newsletter:

"A pretty good trading night as long as you aren’t a US Dollar. The chart below shows the US Dollar Index has collapsed below technical support and will continue to make new lows. The whole game last night across all asset classes was out of USD’s into anything denominated in USD’s."

(couldn't work out how to copy chart...)
