metal casting
I know this may be a bit out there, but was wondering what type of costs to get something casted would involve???
Are there any local manufactors that do this type of thing??

You'd need to seek out a foundry. A one off mould would need to be made after which the casting would need to be ground and finished to your requirement. Dependent on the quality of the mould and the metal worker involved, the quality of the molten metal used would distinguish the consistency of the core matter. I.e. its quite an involved process and would require a number of prototypes before the final unit is achieved.

cheers jme,
Do u know anyone that does this kind of stuff?? Are the molds cut from a CAD drawing?? Or are they assembled by hand?? What stuff is the mold made out of?? Rough costs? I suppose castings marks would be similar to welds so i wouldnt be too concerned about that..

its prohibitively expensive to create and engineer the plugs and sets unless your doing multiple runs.
the moulds are made from a special sand.

to give an example, a random one at that, I had 2 quotes for a cast aluminum hand ( like a manikins) and i would supply the model
this was about $100 + I jusat searched my local foundries |

I used to deal with a foundry in Midland when having custom brass decorative pieces made for work. There's not a lot around but as Dan suggest, let your fingers do the walking.

It will be far, far cheaper to get whatever you want (I' m assuming a manifold) fabricated and/or machined than getting something cast. As mentioned, dies need to be made for something to be cast and this is not a cheap exercise by any stretch of the imagination. Wax or sand dies can be made up for one off's, but you need a prototype to make the die off of anyway so.....
Maybe rapid prototyping (3d printing) could be a goer for you, but you may have issues using the product in an engine bay and you would also need a 3d model of the part your trying to create.

Thanks for the info guys..
Ive been told about sand dies but they need a true model for that to be done..
