Arrow Utilities Costing

Looking at renting for 6 or 12 months. Only ever been at home boarding and never rented before, so I have no idea what to budget for utilities (water, power, gas).

Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of what it'd set me back? Will be either a 3x2 home or 2x2 apartment and only two of us. And before anyone suggests buying, I would love to, but my financial situation at the mo wouldn't be able to make that happen.

Cheers,
Josh

Certainly not ipswich!!

Anywhere and everywhere around Perth mate!! Found a 3x2 in Baldivis at an ok price, but want to make sure we allow enough for utility bills before we commit.

I guess my main question is in your experience will it be possible to find a place and secure it while still being here in Perth?
Having lived in all major cities around the country at one time or another. I would suggest you get a serviced apartment whilst looking for a rental, it will make it so much easier.

The Brisbane Rental market is tight as well due to Queenslands export commodities based economy. Traffic is horrendous during peak hour especially getting into and out of the city - worse than Perth for sure. Lots of accidents too - you think Perth drivers are bad.....

If you are working anywhere in the Brisbane CBD I would suggest the QUEST chain of serviced apartments. The ones in Kangaroo Point are very central and its just a short walk into the city or a ferry ride. The Story Bridge Hotel is very close for great beers and cheap tucker too....

The Ferrys in Brisbane are excellent. Numerous, cheap, efficient and you don't get stuck in peak hour traffic. Because of this, you find a lot of funky Suburbs around the river near the inner city.

So Suburbs to look at would include:

Kangaroo Point if you like apartment living close to the city.
New Farm, one of the funkiest areas of inner city Brisbane. Bars, resturants, Cafe's etc.
Teneriffe, lots of apartments also on the river.
Hawthorne + Bulimba, middle income family area with some great old Queenslander homes.
Paddington + Milton - expensive with lots of great restuarants.
Hilton, Ascot - a bit further out, but still on a Ferry stop near the river.

If I was still living there working in the CBD, New Farm or the Teneriffe area would be my pick. Very edgy, progressive suburbs close to everything with ferry transport options.

Serviced apartment outside of the Brisbane CBD (too much noise otherwise) for the win till you find a rental you really want.
