We're not really feeling any effects from the global economic situation in my household (touch wood) Although we do have American Dave to thank for that as he assisted my hubby in getting a FIFO job on a gold mine and they have been told thier jobs are quite secure and as far as my hubby can tell are still hiring (especially since they just had to lay of a few guys for testing positive for drugs).

I have just started a new job myself, nothing huge just a couple of days a week while our kids are at school to keep me out of trouble and bring a bit extra in. I didnt ask what the position paid when I got the job, I just figured its a local video shop, casual job, casual rates about $20 an hour. I got my first pay last week and I bloody fell over....I'm on about 35 bucks an hour!!! All I do is hand out dvd rentals. So think outside the box to tide you over Luke and best of luck I hope things start to look up for you soon.

no shit im a fucken systems analyst/software engineer and not really pulling in a whole lot more than 35 an hour..
i could sit in blockbuster givin out dvd's to stoners with a whole lot less stress and for a bit less coin easy as hahahha

haha dont worry mate ive been thinking about it.. just got a $10k payrise cause i said i was thinking about leaving about 2 weeks ago so that will keep me here for a bit longer.. that and the laid backness of my workplace - thongs and boardies to work, no problem.. beer with lunch anytime of day at ya desk or out or whatever, no wuckers!! constant racist sexist religous bad taste jokes, piss taking and constant swearing including the C word, bring it on.. shit we dont even need dr's notes for sickdays and can ring/email in at anytime before about 10am to say we're sick or having a days leave..
