Default Why is it so?

OK, I'm gunna show my age and my complete lack of knowledge, but I'm sure you guys can answer me the following queries;

1 - Why do guys put an aftermarket exhaust onto their cars at a weird angle? Like the muffler is sticking out the back at nearly 45 degrees?? Did their exhaust installer fail basic trig at school? Whats the go with this?

2 - Next, why do some guys leave the black mark from their exhaust on the back of their car? It seems they wash the whole car spotless but leave this big black mark out the back near their exhaust covering just about the whole rear off the car - is it just that that their car is running overly rich? Theres a guy that parks out the front of our work in a red silvia or something and his car is gleaming - except for the black exhaust stain all over the back, what gives?

Thanx for helping an old, and obviously out of touch, dude out

Cheers
Zombee

1. exhaust is on the piss coz its drift spec... and so when u pop flames, you can burn any pedestrians that may be walking past...

2. also, that is a burn mark, after time... its pretty hard to get it off... and it look siq!

Kym is on the money. I have also been told the angle reduces drag in the pipe
coz there are less bends after the dif. Better flow.

Cause its fully sick to have your zorst at an angle :P, not doing it is like going to a brewery and not drinking beer, just isn't right.

1. It is a straighter path. Bends = restrictions = less power.

2. Try cleaning it off! Requires a lot and after a few flames comes right back.

Straighter - less restrictions - better flow.

HKS Hi-Power is designed like that.

There are occasional cool kids that has a exhaust that is more bendy then a maze with a angled out exhaust. It makes them feel like the car goes THAT much faster. Trust me :P
