Mate I could not agree with this scheme more. Evidently so as has been mentioned here, those people that are on the dole that genuinely require it as they are unable to get work after showing an extensive effort to do so or are disabled or physically unfit should not have to do this. However people that are on the dole and have been for a period of say over two months or so who make a half assed attempt at getting a job should be allocated to their respective local councils and be assigned to do tasks such as clean graffiti, collect garbage etc. There is that much graffiti everywhere and rubbish around that these people could be put to good use instead of having a free ride. Not only would this serve as an initiative for them to search harder for a job, it will help tidy up the streets and put these people to use.

In regards to the government stimulus package handout.. I think Mr Turnbull opinion of lowering the tax rate across all levels would stimulate economic growth EXTENSIVELY more so than handing out $1000 to people who are already supported by those that work and provide in a positive manner to the Australian economy. Ah well what can you do good work Dudd!

My wife will be getting the payment, as we get family tax benefit part A. I also heard that single parent pensioners dont get the handout. So that leaves the handout to disabled and aged pensioners, and low income earners.

I earn $41000 a year which is ok for a single person but fucked for a couple with a child. Then you are told by centrelink that is too much to be eligible for a health care card etc is bullshit. My wife was fucked around from her work, she was due to return from maternity leave (which for those that dont know is unpaid) to be told there was no room for her there as she had been replaced. I cant wait for the $1000 payment so we can get her car service which has been overdue for 12 months.
sorry man, i think i missed something. i thought companies had to legally garantee the position of women going on maternity leave!!! the rule may differ if its a casual or part time position. but i still believe they have some sort of protection. it may pay to contact the appropriate government department and find out what your rights are........

I thought the same thing when I read that, I'm pretty sure its covered somewhere under the discrimination umbrella. Worth a look into.

Well yes and no. Long story involved, but my wife was offered by the 2IC 1 - 2 days a week for a few months to ease back into work, which is what she is after. Had it all sorted out and took the proposal to the boss to be told that she either had to come back full time or not at all. If she came back full time she would have forced her replacement out of a job which she didnt want to do.

Id be careful unless you know the circumstances. There are things called Rosted Days Off and nightshift. I drive around during the day (work 6pm till 4am)and shop, does that make me a dole bludger?

On the other notes, totally agree. Some people struggle, some people just take shit for granted. They can get on a fuckin log and float to another country imo.
