Grab a middle model Evo. The gear boxes are very strong, parts are easily found. Getting a purely track used car would be quite cheap. Look at an Evo III and up. From the IV they got AYC. From the VII they got ACD as well.

so 30k inital outlay...for that you could get a pretty schmick car in the class Denver is talking about. what are you prepared to spend per annum on top of that to keep you and your car competitive?

Ad depends rally what you want to do..

If you went a tin top, evo or rex, you can only run under the 3J or improved production rules, which is a class added tot he street car formular that runs at waneroo..

saddly a rule change a couple years ago after arron caratti wiped the floor with the field in his evo 5/6 means they won't allow open 4wd's in street cars, so you will have to run a restrictor..

if you want to build a rwd all out car then you can still do that, my r33 im building up now will comply to street cars, and the field currently has a mix of rx7's, silvias and 180's, commies, gemini's and other odditys like torans and fiat 124's with massive turbo's strapped to them..

if you have a really big budget you can go for sports cars, and run a porka for example..

or formular ford and V is not to bad once the initial out lay is paid, and you don't smash into people and walls..

but, give us an idea of your budget and what you want to achieve and we can answer your question better

Build/buy a westfield. The hayabusa powered ones (megabusa) do 0-100 in 3 seconds flat and weigh about 550kgs with driver. They are road legal too. Full kits start at around 17k + another 5k or so for engine and gearbox.

Ill be building one next year when the rex is paid off.
