You can hand it in to your local police station and ask them to serve your suspension to you.

Well I had the exact same thing happen to me.

Get a lwayer, if its worth it I can provide a reference of a good guy to help out. Wait for the fine to be resent. That will give you another month or so

Then elect to go to court and send it on the last day you can. Then when you get your summons, ask for a remand to seek legal advice. This can give you another week or so. The lawyer will help you on this.

Then when you set the trial date the lawyer can push for more time pending a video or some other bullshit.

I was caught speeding in march, no radar, it was a check speed. I finished in late august. Ended up with 1 point instead of 3 becuase the prosecuter was so worried about the video evidence we had. Offered a lower speed for a guilty plea.

Now in my case the cops made a mistake, I wasn't going as fast and I was fighting it for principle, but it goes to show you can make it take 5 months, but it will cost you.

This happened years ago but I wrote to the top honcho pleading my inocence & by the time they investigated and I got the letter back then waited for a court date it took about 9 months, worth a try, Just say the copper was rude & you think he was picking on you because of your car n you are sure you were not speeding etc, takes them ages to investigate cos they have to get him on the right shift at the right time etc etc.

Just take it on the chin. Go in to your local station, say you have 12 points, get the letter served on you (cos it doesnt get posted out) and be done with it. Otherwise your just prolonging the enevitable.
