Don't go anywhere near a Barina. Those things have the lowest safety rating
of any car on the road and should never have been unleashed on the
unsuspecting public! Holden should be ashamed. Especially because they are
marketed as good first girls car.

I think getting a shitkicker is a wise choice. May aswel thrash it about, get whatever economy you can till you can decide and do a little more research on what it is you want and if its going to be a choice you wont regret.

If i had my time again, id of done alot more research on subarus and proberly would of ended up in an STi. Figures lol.

The quality of BMW's (can't comment on E36, only E46 and E90) are an absolute standout.

While parts might not be THAT expensive, BMW specialists seem to charge a lot when it comes to labour.
Majority of Aus delivered E36 318's are south african built and are shit boxes.
M43 engine is a cooker (i.e. plastic water pump, suspect quality cooling system fittings that become brittle over time).
Ignition switch / steering lock issues (fail without warning)
Electrical gremlins.....

E30 better (avoid the 318's with timing belts)
E46 318 is actually a 2 litre and the best of the bunch.

They all drive 'nice' comfort wise, but reliability is an issue with the E36 specifically.

Call someone like Swiss Motors in ozzy park for an honest opinion.
Most parts can be sourced through LINTREX 40% cheaper than genuine.

Suck in your pride and buy a SV21 Camry, a workshop manual, tools & learn how to fix it yourself. If anything major goes wrong, like engine or transmission you just buy another whole one at Pickles for ~$200 and get anything you need.

Ive said it to you already.. but get another 'Weapon'!

That Pulsar Q - 2ltr version was unkillable ! Poor unsuspecting car put many other bigger faster better ones to shame with Dan at the wheel

RIP poor pulsar - sitting in pine forest now !

Even I can service a pulsar - thats how easy they are to work on. I had a SSS for 4 years as my first car.. couldnt fault it !

SSS would cost more.. but if you get another pulsar Q with the 2ltr engine it shouldnt cost much.
