My old man wants a new PC, any ideas where to go? It doesn't need to be top spec, just a very basic one for Internet, Word processing, DVD burning etc How much would he expect to pay? I noticed PLE had some cheap specials going on, but is better to go for a reputable brand such as Dell, HP or are the generic units OK?

Dell pc's are ok bit of a pain to upgrade later down the track, HP and the others are a rip off.

You'd be best going to PLE or Austins and getting a custom built one or just one of there packages and upgrading from that, fairly cheap and heaps reliable.

Austins are ghey. Hate their customer service standards.

I recommend either Netplus or PLE.

i have no problem with austins, always helped me out, got my pc and laptop there.

i can reccomend them, got my pc, a basic one sort like wot ur old mans after, 500 bucks, dvd buner etc, works fine no problems.

So would the PLE pcs come with any kind of warranty?

and you would have the warranty of the different components but i dont think one of a whole :S

their pretty good if it comes to repairs and shit anyway I've been using them for a few years now and i recommend

That maybe so, but they have good prices. I just grin and bear it, buy what I want and get out of there.

i think they may do, best option is to go in there or give them a call see what packages they got going and warranty's. Just tell them what you want the pc for, like not for playing games ect

You will get the standard 1 year manufacturer’s warranty on most or all computer products,
samsung have a three year warranty on there monitors,

I am totally unimpressed with the aftersales help of the Cybershop up in perth.
