If you are going Brushless, you should go LIPO at the same time!

Lipos give more punch compared to Nicads/Nimh, can sustain higher amp draws, are alot lighter and have a higher Mah for the same size batts.

although lipos are more dangerous if not cared for properly, you need a special charger, and they dont last as long even when cared for properly.

check out 'Zippy' brand lipos from the website hobbycity.com.

if you're using 3600+ batteries also change you're battery, charger & car plugs to the 'deans ultra plug' style

you'll notice better power delivery, less heat in your battery plug & wires, we worked this out when my mate melted the standard tamiya battery plug together on a 5.5turn brushless running a 5000 nimh battery!

plugs are about $5 a set from sik, well worth it

Don't get a cheap charger, you will regret it in the end.
Wait till you can afford one of the newer swallow chargers that can charge Lipo, so you have options in the future.
Check out westernrcdrifters.net for sale section, there is always chargers and stuff for sale.
